Will there be an adoption fee? Why do shelters charge for adoptions?
We've created comprehensive list of questions you should ask yourself before adopting a pet as a pet impacts your lifestyle for an extensive period. Checklist link
Adoption fees vary per shelter. Fees start at AED 1000 onwards per pet. Shelters charge adoption fees to cover the costs associated with caring for the animals while they await adoption. These fees typically contribute to medical care, food, shelter, and other expenses incurred during the pet's stay at the shelter or rescue facility. Keep in mind shelters are pre-dominately self-funded or rely on donations so adoption fees help support the organization's ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.

What is the difference fostering and adoption?
Pet fostering involves temporarily caring for an animal until a permanent home can be found, whereas adoption is the permanent placement of an animal into a new home. Fostering a pet is a great way to discover if the pet is the right fit for your family before permanently adopting the pet. Fostering a pet and Adopting a pet are not mutually exclusive.
Fostering:
-
Temporary arrangement. Some shelters have a minimum commitment of 4 weeks.
-
Foster parents provide temporary care, love, and shelter for animals in need.
-
Animals may stay with foster families for a short period until they are ready for adoption, or until space becomes available at a shelter or rescue facility.
-
Fostering helps animals transition from shelters to permanent homes, provides socialization and rehabilitation, and frees up space in shelters for other animals in need.
-
Foster parents dont pay the shelter to foster. or pay vet bills However, they may need to cover the pet's food during the fostering period.
Adoption:
-
Adoptive parents provide a permanent home for an animal.
-
Adoption involves legal ownership of the pet, and the adoptive family assumes full responsibility for the animal's care, including medical expenses, training, and general well-being for the rest of its lives.
